The Alamo city is set to welcome the top elite Taekwondo athletes in the nation. USA Taekwondo and San Antonio, Texas are collaborating together to host the 2020 USA Taekwondo National Championships, July 1 through July 7. This year’s host venue will be at the prestigious Alamodome Stadium which is known for hosting huge events and high-profile sporting events.
The last time the Lone Star State hosted the USATKD National Championships was in 2015 where we he had over 4,000 competitors and coaches combined. With this year’s location and venue we expect to reach record breaking numbers.
“Bringing the 2020 USATKD Nationals to the seventh largest city in the U.S is very exciting. We are excited for our membership to take part of this year’s Nationals where they can enjoy the city’s rich history, downtown area, food, and culture.” USA Taekwondo Executive Director Steve McNally said. “This year’s nationals will definitely be one for the books, the state of Texas and the City of San Antonio will be great for families to visit and we know our membership will have a great week there. We are confident this year’s Nationals will be incredible. One that our athletes, coaches, and parents won’t want to miss.”
“The Alamodome has gained momentum as a premier host for high-profile sporting events, said Alamodome General Manager Steve Zito. Our City has proven itself as a prime sports center, and we look forward to continuing in this outstanding tradition with the 2020 USA Taekwondo National Championships.”
“As always this event will provide young athletes from across the nation the opportunity to challenge themselves in competition at the highest level.” Texas State Taekwondo President Sang Cha said. “We are grateful to USA Taekwondo for selecting Texas to host this event and look forward to seeing y’all.”
